Before it was a staple in the beauty industry, Waxi Taxi founder Jeny Burkhart was introducing the service to Northwest Indiana and helping shape the local waxing landscape. Where It All Started
Jeny’s beauty career began in 1993 after graduating from Lowell Beauty College. She started working in local day spas to build her skills and gain experience. One day, a client walked into the spa carrying a magazine. The client had found an article about a service called Brazilian waxing, and wanted to know if Jeny would be able to do it.
At the time, Brazilian waxing was virtually unheard of in Northwest Indiana. Jeny agreed to try it, learning how to do the wax through the August 2000 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. This skill, which started from a magazine article, would later become her specialty.
As the popularity of the service increased, she began refining her technique and learning more about it. Before long, she became known as the area’s go-to specialist for Brazilian waxing, as the first waxing professional outside of Chicago to offer Brazilian waxes in Northwest Indiana.
More Than Three Decades Of Experience
Being the first waxer to offer this service in the region wasn’t what made Jeny successful; what truly set her apart was her commitment to mastering the service. Over the last three decades, she has performed thousands upon thousands of Brazilian waxes and has remained dedicated to delivering consistent, high-quality results through changing trends, new products, and ever-evolving techniques.
