Hey besties!
It’s almost Memorial Day weekend, which means spending time outside in the sun, swimming, sweating, unwanted hair, and more. If you want to head into the holiday weekend feeling smooth, confident, and stress-free, this blog is for you. We’re covering everything you need to know before and after your appointment, plus the aftercare product that helps keep your skin healthy and glowing all weekend long.
Tip #1: Book Early
If you have Memorial Day plans, don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your appointment. We recommend booking 2-3 days before heading to the beach or pool. This gives your skin enough time to recover, allows pores to close, and helps any redness or sensitivity calm down before spending time in the sun, sand, and water. You can book your appointment here.
If you have Memorial Day off, it’s actually the perfect time to book an appointment because we’ll be open! Spending the day getting self-care out of the way can help you start summer feeling smooth and refreshed. Just keep in mind that after your appointment, you’ll want to avoid swimming, tanning, excessive sweating, workouts, hot tubs, and saunas for at least 24-48 hours.
Tip #2: Exfoliate
Looking to achieve smooth, glowing skin for your Memorial Day plans? Exfoliate the area a few days before your wax to help remove dead skin cells and lift trapped hairs, but be sure to avoid harsh scrubs or over-exfoliating. Exfoliate after your wax to prevent buildup that can trap hairs under the skin and lead to painful ingrown hairs.
Tip #3: Resist The Urge To Shave
If your waxing schedule doesn’t line up with your plans, resist the urge to shave. We know it may be tempting, but shaving will ultimately reset your hair growth cycle and lead to irritation, razor burn, and ingrown hairs, especially during summer when sweat, sunscreen, and tight swimwear already put stress on the skin.
Tip #4: Avoid Immediate Sun Exposure
It’s best to avoid the sun for 24-48 hours after your wax. When you wax your skin, it becomes more sensitive to UV rays. This means immediate sun exposure could lead to severe irritation and sunburns. Apply sunscreen carefully once your skin has had time to settle.
Tip #5: Avoid Heat, Sweat, and Water Right After Waxing
After your appointment, your skin needs at least 24 to 48 hours to recover. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts that cause excessive sweating. Jumping straight into the lake after your appointment will create irritation, redness, bumps, and even ingrown hairs.
Don’t Forget Aftercare
Using the right aftercare products is key to protecting your results and keeping your skin looking its best. Our aftercare products are designed to help soothe, calm, and support freshly waxed skin while targeting dryness, bumps, and ingrown hairs. One of our summer essentials is Ingrown RX, a solution to help calm irritation, clear congested pores, and support healthy-looking skin. It’s key during beach season, when sweat, swimsuits, sunscreen, and heat increase the likelihood of ingrown hairs and irritation.
Go Into The Long Weekend With Confidence
Kick off Memorial Day weekend with smooth, glowing skin and the confidence to enjoy the beach, pool, and sunshine worry-free. By following these tips, you’ll keep your skin healthy, comfortable, and irritation-free all weekend long.
