If you’ve ever considered booking a Brazilian wax but felt nervous, unsure, or overwhelmed by questions, you’re not alone! For many first-time clients, a Brazilian can feel intimidating. At Waxi Taxi, we believe that education and comfort are just as important as the service itself. Our founder, Jeny, has been a leader in the waxing industry for over 30 years, introducing Brazilian waxing to Northwest Indiana. The service used to be considered ‘taboo’, and was still relatively uncommon outside of major cities. Jeny became the first specialist in the region to offer it.
This expertise, knowledge, and experience make us experts on Brazilian waxing. If you’re thinking about getting a Brazilian and want to learn more, you’re in the right place. Here are some frequently asked questions we get.
What’s the Difference Between a Bikini Wax and a Brazilian Wax?
This question is super common, especially from first-timers.
A bikini wax focuses on cleaning up the hair along the edges and top of the bikini line. It’s a great option for clients who want a more groomed look without removing too much hair. Because it covers a smaller area, the appointment is usually quicker and tends to feel less intense for beginners. Results generally last about four to six weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle.
A Brazilian wax is more comprehensive. This service removes all hair from the pubic area, including the area between the buttocks. While the idea of a Brazilian can sound intimidating at first, our specialists are trained to guide you through the process comfortably and professionally. We’ll explain positioning, answer questions throughout the appointment, and make you feel as relaxed as possible. For some clients, starting with a bikini wax is a good introduction to waxing before transitioning into a Brazilian later on. There’s no right or wrong choice; it’s what makes you feel confident, smooth, and comfortable!

Can I Get A Brazilian Wax While I’m On My Period?
Yes, you can absolutely get a Brazilian wax while on your period; however, there are a few things to keep in mind.
During your menstrual cycle, your body tends to be more sensitive, which can make waxing feel a bit more uncomfortable than usual. This is especially true in the days leading up to or during a heavier flow. For clients scheduling their very first Brazilian, we recommend waiting until after their period, if possible, to make the experience more comfortable.
We recommend wearing a tampon or menstrual cup during your service. This helps keep the area clean and allows for a smoother, more efficient appointment for both you and your specialist. If you’re uncomfortable wearing a tampon or menstrual cup, it may be best to reschedule for a different time in your cycle.

Do You Offer Brazilian Waxes for Men?
Yes! At Waxi Taxi, we offer Brazilian waxing services for clients of all genders. Our goal is to create a welcoming, respectful, and professional environment where every client feels comfortable and cared for during their appointment. We respect all sexual orientations, gender identities, and pronouns. Discrimination or harassment from clients or staff is never tolerated.
We ask that clients schedule services according to their current anatomy. This helps ensure you are paired with a specialist who is properly trained for your service, allowing us to provide the safest, most comfortable experience possible. If you ever have questions about booking or services, our team is always happy to help guide you in the right direction.
How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Appointment Take?
Most Brazilian wax appointments take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, but it can vary depending on hair growth and whether it’s your first time waxing or part of a regular routine.
Here’s what to expect during your Brazilian: You’ll undress from the waist down and lie on the treatment table. Then, warm wax is applied in small sections and removed quickly. Your waxer will guide you through positions to make the process as easy as possible. After, your waxer will apply our Calm-panion oil, a mix of lavender and grapeseed oil, and our Smooth-cruisin Salve, a healing ointment, to reduce redness and support the skin as it heals.
How Often Should I Schedule A Brazilian Wax?
You should reschedule your Brazilian wax every 4-6 weeks. Most Brazilians last 3 to 4 weeks before significant regrowth, although hair growth can vary from person to person. If it’s your first Brazilian, your results may not last as long. This is completely normal. With regular, consistent waxing, hair will grow back finer, softer, and sparser over time. Many long-term waxing clients find they can eventually go longer between appointments.
What To Avoid After A Brazilian Wax
For the first 24 to 48 hours after your appointment, it’s best to avoid anything that creates excess heat, sweat, or friction on the skin. This includes hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, and intense workouts. You’ll also want to avoid intimate activity during this timeframe to help prevent irritation.
Avoid using heavy moisturizers after waxing to help keep pores clear while the skin heals. Be sure to avoid sun exposure and tanning, as freshly waxed skin is very sensitive.
Most importantly, avoid shaving in between appointments! Shaving interrupts the hair growth cycle and makes it harder to maintain smooth, even results. If you need a touch-up, many people opt for a bikini wax in between Brazilians.
