  • What sanitary measures are taken at The Waxi Taxi?

At The Waxi Taxi, your safety comes first. We’re meticulous about sanitation. If you are receiving body waxing (not facial waxing), you’ll be assigned your own personal pot of wax. Not a single other spa offers that! This avoids cross-contamination. We also wear nitrile gloves, use sanitary bed coverings, and employ hospital-grade sanitation for all our instruments. This includes a chemical disinfectant and an autoclave.

  • What can I do to make waxing more comfortable?

Clients have reported that taking pain relievers an hour prior to service makes the process a little less painful. However, we do not recommend numbing creams.

  • Does waxing ever get easier?

Absolutely! For most people, waxing does get easier. You’ll notice that your hair becomes much finer. It also gets sparse. As this happens, your service will be quicker and less uncomfortable. Don’t let your first waxing session be your last!

  • Is there a certain time of the month that is better to get waxed?

For women, it’s best to be in the center of your cycle. A few days before or after will make the process a bit more sensitive for some women. This is most important for bikini waxing.

  • How long will my waxing results last?

About two or three weeks after your waxing session, you will start noticing regrowth. With each wax, regrowth will slow and your growth cycle will become more predictable.

  • When will the redness disappear?

Redness usually dissipates within a few hours. However, sensitive skin may have redness for a couple of days after your waxing. Follow our suggested aftercare protocol at The Waxi Taxi for the best results!

  • What are the white dots that look like whiteheads?

This is your body’s defense mechanism. Your skin is reacting to the hair being removed from the root. This is a fairly common occurrence and should subside in a day or so. Generally, this does not happen if you are waxed on a regular schedule.

  • Should I shave in between appointments?

No. We know it’s tempting, but we highly recommend that you don’t.

  • When should I get waxed again?

To properly maintain your wax, appointments are recommended every four to six weeks at The Waxi Taxi.

  • Do you accept last-minute appointments?

Of course! We generally book out a week or two in advance at The Waxi Taxi. However, you may snag a last-minute cancellation! The easiest way to get an appointment is with our online scheduling tool. This will show you all the available times at both locations. Make sure you hit Choose Your Location and then No Preference to see who has an opening.

  • I feel little, tiny hairs after my waxing. What are they?

If you’re new to waxing, the sensations could be unusual to you. However, this is not an unusual sensation, and it’s actually easy to understand. During a wax, the hair above the skin is removed at the root. However, hair below the surface of the skin is not removed. After your waxing session, those new hairs could break through the surface of the skin. Due to sensitivity in the area, this new growth can feel more noticeable than normal. It will be fine and not stubbly. This hair will be eliminated during any additional waxing sessions.

  • What should I avoid after waxing?

At The Waxi Taxi, we know that waxing is a safe and effective procedure. However, you can make your experience better and heighten your results with several tips.

DO NOT tan for at least 24 hours before or after waxing. Waxing is an exfoliating process and removes dead skin that would be added protection when tanning.

DO NOT have intimate contact in the waxed area for at least six hours. Rubbing and perspiration can cause irritation. You can use your best judgment, but it’s important to be careful.

DO NOT wear super-fitted clothing for 12 hours. Loose clothing should be worn to avoid additional irritation. This will help you be more comfortable.

DO NOT do heavy exercise for at least 24 hours post-waxing. Again, rubbing and perspiration will cause additional skin irritation.

More Information

I feel little tiny hairs after my waxing. What is that?

All hair above the skin was removed and very little if any of that hair was broken during your waxing. The hair is also checked when removed to see if the root was removed. The first 2 illustrations show the hair in the ANAGEN (growth) phase. That is hair right below the skin getting ready to come up. If you feel any hair above the skin, this is what you are feeling. This new hair growth will be very fine and not stubbly at all. This can't be removed because it is NOT above the skin yet. This will minimize and be eliminated after additional waxes.
