Hey ghoul-friends! Spooky season is HERE!
While most people are worried about ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night, our Waxi Taxi specialists have a few hair-raising fears of their own. When you spend your days giving clients smooth skin, you learn that some things are much scarier than a haunted house.
Waxi Taxi is here to make your appointments as comfortable and stress-free as possible, so in honor of spooky season and Halloween, we’re letting you in on a few things that haunt waxing specialists. Consider this your warning…mwah-ha-ha!
The Dreaded Ingrown Hair
There are few things that send shivers down our spines quite like seeing clients struggle with ingrown hairs from shaving or not keeping up with aftercare. These little troublemakers can appear when hair curls back into the skin, sometimes causing redness, bumps, and irritation. Shaving can make ingrown hairs even worse because the razor cuts hair at an angle, leaving a sharp point that pierces the skin as easily as a vampire’s fangs when it grows back.
Ingrown hairs are especially common in areas where hair is coarse, but they can happen to anyone. A consistent waxing and aftercare routine can help keep these at bay. Gentle exfoliation, moisturizing, and using Ingrown RX can make a monstrous difference! Just remember not to pick, squeeze, or dig at an ingrown hair, even when you’re tempted.
The Last-Minute Halloween Panic
Your costume is ready, your plans are made, and suddenly you realize you forgot to schedule your wax. Cue the dramatic horror movie music! Waxing works best when hair has enough length for the wax to grip, typically around a quarter of an inch, although this can vary depending on your hair and the area being waxed. If you’ve been shaving, you may need to give your hair a little time to grow before your appointment.
The best way to avoid a last-minute hairy situation? Plan ahead! Booking your appointment before the holiday rush gives you one less thing to worry about while preparing for the spooky festivities.
The Night Of The Living Razor
Just when you thought you officially buried your razor, it comes back like the living dead. Maybe you shaved between waxing appointments because of some stubble, or perhaps you had early Halloween plans and couldn’t wait for an appointment. Here’s the catch: shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle you’re working to establish with waxing. Consistency is key when building a waxing routine.
Over time, regular appointments may help you notice changes in hair growth, including finer or sparser regrowth. So put that razor away and give your waxing routine a chance to work its magic!
The Mysterious Case of the Missing Aftercare
Skipping aftercare can leave your skin more vulnerable to irritation, dryness, and ingrown hairs. The first 24 to 48 hours after waxing are especially important, so give your freshly waxed skin a little extra love. Avoid excessive heat, intense workouts that cause heavy sweating, and friction in the treated area. Hold off on harsh exfoliants until your skin has settled, then resume gentle exfoliation as appropriate. Don’t forget to moisturize! Healthy skin is happy skin, and your specialist can recommend products that work well with your skin type and waxing routine.
Ghosting Your Specialist
What really haunts a waxing specialist? No-shows, last-minute cancellations, and clients who ghost their waxers. Your specialist has reserved that time just for you. When you don’t show up or cancel at the last minute, that appointment time can’t always be filled by another client. We know life happens, and unexpected things can pop up, but a little communication goes a long way! We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full price of the scheduled services. Please note that discounts do not apply to cancellation fees.
Need to make a change to your appointment? Please call or text us as soon as possible. We appreciate you respecting our specialists’ time and helping us keep everyone’s schedules running smoothly. Don’t ghost your waxing specialist or your appointment!
Have A Smooth Halloween!
