Hey besties!
Have you ever wondered how to get smooth, glowing skin during the summertime? We’re gonna let you in on a little secret: if there’s one true secret to achieving your smoothest, softest skin, it’s not just booking a wax before summer…it’s consistency!
Many people think that waxing is a one-time service that produces instant results; however, the real magic happens when you stick to a regular schedule. Consistent appointments, paired with the right aftercare, can completely transform your results over time.
Why Consistent Appointments Matter
Consistency is key to seeing results you absolutely love! When you wax regularly, your esthetician is able to catch more hair in the same growth phase, leading to smoother and longer-lasting results. After your first wax, you may notice tiny hairs. All hair that’s above the skin during your wax will be removed, and very little, if any, of that hair will be broken during your session. We always check the hair when it is removed to ensure that the root has been extracted.
The hair that sits just below the skin and is preparing to emerge is in the anagen, or growth, phase. If you feel any hair above the skin after your wax, that is what it is. This new hair growth will be very fine and will not feel stubbly at all. Since this hair is not yet above the skin during your wax, it cannot be removed. With additional waxing sessions, this fine hair will be minimized and eventually eliminated.
Why Consistent After-Care Matters
Your at-home aftercare routine plays a huge role in achieving the perfect summer wax. If you want to see amazing results that last, staying on top of your after-care is just as important as getting your wax!
The two most important steps? Exfoliation and moisturizing.
Exfoliation
Gentle exfoliation removes dead skin cells that trap hair beneath the surface and cause ingrown hairs. To prevent ingrowns, begin gentle exfoliation 72 hours after your waxing service. Use exfoliating gloves 2-3 times weekly to slough away dead skin cells that can trap hairs beneath the surface. The goal is to keep the skin smooth without causing irritation.
Consistent exfoliation helps hair grow out properly and keeps your skin looking polished all summer long.
Moisturizing
Moisturizing daily keeps the skin soft and glowy, which makes it easier for new hairs to grow through the surface without becoming trapped.
Use a gentle, lightweight moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Our after-care lineup has lavender & grapeseed oil, perfect for freshly waxed skin. Pair this with our new Ingrown RX and healing ointment, and your skin will be smooth, hydrated, and summer-ready in no time.
Tips To Stay Consistent
There are a few things you can do to ensure you stay consistent with your waxing schedule:
- Book your next appointment before you leave the salon: Booking standing appointments every 4-6 weeks takes the guesswork out of your routine and keeps smooth skin on your calendar.
- If you need to reschedule, try to book it within the same week: A few days earlier or later usually won’t make a major difference, but avoid rescheduling several weeks later; this can restart your hair regrowth cycle entirely.
- Avoid shaving between waxing appointments: NEVER shave between appointments. This restarts your hair growth cycle completely and ruins your results! We know it may be tempting during summer, but it’s never a good idea.
Summer Skin Starts With Waxi Taxi
Achieving the perfect summer skin isn’t about a last-minute touch-up or a quick shave before your beach trip. The key to a worry-free summer is consistent waxing appointments, hydration, and exfoliation. Sticking to your routine will result in smoother skin, less regrowth, and better results with every visit.
