Every strong, client-centered experience starts with someone making sure all the moving pieces come together seamlessly, and at Waxi Taxi, that someone is Barb, our Operations Manager. Her help in overseeing day-to-day operations is vital to creating the warm, welcoming experience our clients know and love.
Her impact doesn’t stop there. With a passion for skincare and esthetics, she recently took things a step further by formulating a brand new aftercare product designed with our clients’ needs in mind. It’s a true reflection of her dedication to our team, not just to how things run, but to how our clients feel after their wax. We’re giving you a closer look at the person behind the operations: her journey, what inspires her, and the heart she brings to everything she does.
What has been the most rewarding part of helping shape Waxi Taxi behind the scenes, and how has it shaped your view of client care?
The most rewarding part of helping build Waxi Taxi behind the scenes has been witnessing the love, intention, and care Jeny has poured into our community. She has created spaces where clients feel both comforted and uplifted with every visit.
Each location is designed to feel welcoming and safe, but the experience goes far beyond beautifully waxed skin. We share connection, growth, laughter, and real moments with our clients. From every hand-cut strip of muslin, to our homemade oils and salts, to even the unseen tasks like watering plants and daily upkeep—every detail is done with heart.
We truly have the best team here at Waxi Taxi, and being part of that has deepened my belief that exceptional client care is found in the little things.
As the creator of our new aftercare product, what inspired you to develop it, and what need were you hoping to meet?
The inspiration for this product came from my own personal journey. I’ve dealt with painful ingrown hairs for most of my life and was determined to find something that truly offered relief.
Through conversations with clients, I realized I wasn’t alone—so many others were dealing with the same issue and searching for a solution. That’s when it became clear this product could help more than just me. I wanted to create something effective, soothing, and supportive for anyone experiencing the discomfort of ingrown hairs.
Can you walk us through the process of developing the aftercare product from idea to final formula?
The process started simply: I went to my medicine cabinet and gathered ingredients known for their soothing and healing properties. I began experimenting with small batches, testing combinations, and refining the formula over time.
As I continued developing it, I introduced additional ingredients to enhance the results. Then I shared it with friends and family, asking for honest feedback about how it performed and how it made their skin feel.
That grassroots testing phase was the foundation of what has now become Waxi Taxi’s Ingrown RX—a product I’m proud to share because it has helped me, and I know it can help others, too.
Tell us about your background in formulation and what inspires you to create.
Creating has always been part of who I am. Even as a child, I found joy in making things—from mud and grass pies to dandelion sun tea. I’ve always been drawn to nature and the healing it offers.
At my core, I’m someone who loves finding solutions and creating with purpose. What inspires me most is blending beauty, wellness, and intention into something that can genuinely help others.
And while it may sound playful, I truly believe energy matters. Every product I create is made with love, care, and positive intention. I believe the frequency of the plants and ingredients carries through into the final product.
Outside of managing day-to-day operations, what hobbies or passions do you enjoy that might surprise clients?
I love the beach, music, gardening, and hiking—anything that helps me connect with nature and feel grounded. I also have a deep passion for cooking and love creating meals from scratch. There’s something so fulfilling about putting love into the process and watching it come to life.
I’m also a Master Reiki Practitioner. I was first introduced to Reiki in esthetic school 28 years ago, and it has remained a meaningful part of my life ever since. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that promotes relaxation and well-being by helping balance the body’s energy through light touch or hands-on healing. It has been a beautiful foundation for my connection to both healing and the natural world.
How would your closest friends describe your personality, and how do those qualities support you in your role?
My closest friends would probably describe me as magical first—and honestly, that feels the most accurate. Beyond that, they might say I’m selfless, nurturing, calm, and compassionate.
They would also describe me as knowledgeable, trustworthy, empathetic, composed, resilient, sociable, insightful, and confident.
In my role, those qualities help me create a space where clients feel comfortable, safe, and cared for—especially in moments where they may feel vulnerable. To me, that trust and connection are just as important as the service itself.
